Sean Houlston, Head of Membership and Digital Services at the National Federation of Builders, is standing for Parliament in the forthcoming Runcorn and Helsby byelection, due to be held on Thursday 1st May 2025.
Sean has been selected as the Conservative Party candidate, for what will be the first byelection of the current Parliamentary term after the former Labour MP, Mike Amesbury, resigned following his conviction for assaulting a member of the public.
At the National Federation of Builders (NFB), headquartered in Cheshire, Sean leads the organisation’s engagement with its members as well as being responsible for the NFB’s digital transformation strategy, overseeing the implementation of AI and other digital tools, services, and products to improve the services offered to the UK construction industry.
Richard Beresford, Chief Executive of the NFB, said:
“Sean is a great member of the NFB team, and we know how passionate he is about local politics, which is why we are pleased to personally support him. While the NFB does not back one party over another, we know Sean to be a hard worker, a dedicated individual and in our experience, he is enthusiastic about anything her puts his mind to – he would make a great MP. If the good people of Runcorn and Helsby decide to elect him, we would be very sad to see him go but know that our loss would be their gain. Good luck Sean.”
