DOING IT FOR THE KIDS: adi Group recognised as Birmingham Children’s Hospital’s Corporate Supporter of the Year

LEADING engineering firm adi Group was recognised as one of Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity’s 100 Heroes for the second year running, being acknowledged for its fundraising and volunteering efforts.

The business was also selected as the charity’s Corporate Supporter of the Year within its Honourable Heroes list, celebrating the business going above and beyond to support the hospital.

As a symbol of this achievement, the company has been awarded a commemorative gold balloon that is displayed at the front entrance to Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

Commenting, Alan Lusty, CEO, said: “I am extremely proud of what the entire team at adi has achieved in support of Birmingham Children’s Hospital. This milestone showcases the strong dedication of our staff in supporting the hospital and its vision, which is particularly close to our heart”.

The 100 Heroes annual event celebrates its charity’s supporters for their fundraising efforts, shining a light on the incredible work of individuals, schools, trusts, foundations and corporate supporters.

“We were very lucky to hear experiences from other supporters of the hospital”, Alan continued. “For some, fundraising starts from as young as five years old, while there are families who keep the memories of their children alive through supporting the charity.

“It truly makes you realise that you are a part of a wider team all supporting the same cause – helping the hospital to deliver extraordinary, impactful work.

“I know with the support from all our employees we can achieve so much more in 2024 to continue helping the hospital in as many ways as possible”.

In January last year, adi Group selected the hospital as its charity of the year and set the ambitious target of raising £40,000.

The team were extremely keen to embed the partnership throughout the business to make a real impact, arranging and taking part in a number of events throughout the year.

Thanks to its dedication, the team raised more than double its initial target, ending the year with an outstanding £88,000.

Speaking about adi’s contributions, Helen Miles, Head of Corporate Partnerships at Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity, said: “As a Birmingham-based business, adi really wanted to support a local charity where it could make a massive impact, and the business has accomplished just that.

“The whole team is absolutely deserving of this award. The past year has been utterly amazing, and we’re delighted we can continue to work in partnership with adi Group for another year”.

Ellie Maybury, Philanthropy and Partnerships Executive, added: “adi has been involved in a number of activities, hosting its own five-a-side football tournament, taking part in our annual Dragon Boat race, and even dressed up as Santa and fellow elves to put smiles on our young patients’ faces. The team even surprised us by hosting an NHS staff Christmas party for our staff last December.

“adi is driven by impact, whether that’s volunteering time or hosting fundraising events. Nothing is ever too big for adi to be involved in”.
