Reynaers’ Vision 7 Thermal Commercial Door achieves new enhanced security test standard

0

Reynaers’ Vision 7 Thermal Commercial Entrance Door has successfully passed Security Technical Standard (STS) to Burglary Resistance levels 1 and 2 (BR1 and BR2) for use in commercial projects requiring enhanced security.

As the only UK product to achieve both STS202 BR2 and one million successful test cycles, Vision 7 offers a leading solution for projects, such as city-based commercial buildings that often demand more robust security standards.

Both the Vision 7 single and double leaf, double action swing doors have been successfully tested for resistance against physical force of the glass and metal panels.

By achieving the STS202 BR2 standard, Vision 7 is eligible for specification across a wide range of commercial projects including schools, offices, hospitals and government buildings, as the standard ensures a security level capable of withstanding targeted impact and force.

STS202 certification is now specified as a requirement in many commercial projects.

Ian Osborne, Reynaers UK Product Development Manager, said: “Reynaers Aluminium is committed to consistently developing products that serve the performance and security needs of specifiers, contractors and installers.

“The security performance of our Vision 7 door is already backed by PAS 24 certification, panic hardware and a variety of additional locks and accessories. The addition of the STS202 BR1 and BR2 certification means that this commercial door can be specified and installed across a variety of commercial projects where enhanced security is a priority.

“Vision 7 has also recently achieved a milestone in mechanical durability testing and now meets the EN 12400 Class 8 rating which further supports its suitability for high-traffic environments, such as a schools, hospitals or as an entrance door in a commercial building.

“Like all Reynaers products, launch is just the start of the product lifecycle. Achieving the STS202 BR1 and BR2 marks the latest milestone for Vision 7 which will see further development throughout 2026 and beyond.”

‘TRIALS OF ENDURANCE’ FIND EXPRESSION AT KOMATSU AND METSO DISTRIBUTORS MCHALE PLANT SALES

0
The ’Foynes Rox’ team of nine ladies are currently engaged in intensive training ahead of their forthcoming participation in the challenging HYROX Endurance event taking place in Dublin’s RDS premises from November 12th – 16th next.

Given their role as distributors of Komatsu and Metso equipment, little wonder that UK and Ireland based construction equipment specialists, McHale Plant Sales would be attracted to sponsor a nine-strong team in an event that had ‘endurance’ in its title.

The mid-November HYROX Enduranceevent in which they will take part – described as an ‘electrifying’ extravaganza open to polished athletes and everyday fitness enthusiasts seeking to raise their training to the next level – is being held over four days in Dublin’s RDS complex.

Competitions combine 1km running events and ‘test-of-endurance’ workouts involving ‘push/pull’ weight trials – all of which will be repeated eight times over the four days of the competition and hosted indoors within the view of spectators.

Parents to 27 children between them, the team’s occupations range from teacher, a specialist nurse, solicitor, football coach, IT engineer, and microbiologist – and all are resident in the Shannon-side village of Foynes, close to Limerick City and McHale Plant Sales Irish HQ in Birdhill.

Praising their ‘enterprise and valour’, Tim Shanahan said “they will carry with them the very best wishes of all in our company at Birdhill and Rathcoole, and those who drive our UK operations in Tamworth and Edinburgh”.

More Than a Network: Why a Top Broker Chose OneDome’s Community. An Editorial Interview with Jarrad Combellack of OneDome Growth Partners

0

Building a successful career in the property industry can often be a solitary endeavour. But for Jarrad Combellack, Owner of Stratton Mortgages and a mortgage broker with a decade of experience, his professional journey has recently shifted from going it alone to being part of a powerful collective. We sat down with the 30-year-old from South Wales to discuss his recent move to the OneDome Growth Partners network, and it’s a story of growth, community, and a shared vision for a simpler homebuying future.

The Quest for Something Bigger

After four years with a firm and six as a self-employed broker, Jarrad had built a successful, respected business. His dedication has won him a prestigious British Mortgage Award, no small feat in a competitive industry. Yet, he felt a familiar ceiling.

“I’d maxed out in my previous situation,” Jarrad admits with refreshing honesty. “The leads were drying up, and I knew I had more to give. I wanted to be part of something bigger, with a real structure for growth.”

That ‘something bigger’ arrived via a LinkedIn message from one of the OneDome team. Intrigued by the proposition of better splits, qualified leads, and dedicated support to scale his business, Jarrad saw an opportunity not just to join a network, but to build a legacy.

“The chance to eventually build up my own team and expand into complementary services like wills and wealth management, was a huge draw,” he explains. “It was the clear, supported pathway I’d been looking for.”

More than a network: It’s a community

For any person, switching companies can be daunting. Jarrad, however, describes his onboarding with a warmth that is rarely associated with corporate transitions.

“The people have been fantastic, everyone is wonderful to deal with,” he says, his enthusiasm palpable.

He highlights the real-life, in-person onboarding as a key moment that built genuine relationships. “Being a business owner can be lonely,” he confesses. “But this feels different. This is more of a community than a network. The fact that I can WhatsApp the CEO, Babek, and get a response that same day… that just doesn’t happen with other companies of this size. It tells you everything about the culture.”

A Shared Passion for a Simpler Future

This culture is rooted in OneDome’s vision: to make home buying simpler. It’s a mission that resonates with Jarrad’s own passion for an industry he feels has been slow to evolve.

I love working with first-time buyers because of their excitement, seeing first hand my clients realise buying their dream home is a special feeling, but the process itself can be disheartening,” he notes. “You can arrange a mortgage in a week or two, and then they’re left waiting another eight for the rest of the transaction. It’s frustrating for everyone.”

Jarrad brings a proactive ethos to this problem. He doesn’t just secure a mortgage and step back; he checks in with his clients every single week. And in a fast-moving market, this diligence pays off.

“I recently had a case where a better mortgage product became available during the conveyancing process,” he shares. “I was able to switch them over and save them £60 a month. That’s a significant win for them. It’s about providing a service that actively works for the client throughout the entire journey, not just at the start.”

Setting a Higher Standard

OneDome’s Growth Partners network is intentionally selective, setting a high bar for the agents and brokers it invites aboard. With brokers of Jarrad’s calibre—award-winning, client-focused, and forward-thinking—it’s clear why the network is gaining a reputation for excellence.

For Jarrad, the move is more than a business decision; it’s an alignment of values and ambition. He’s found a platform that not only provides the tools and leads to grow but also a community that supports his desire to deliver an exceptional, evolving service.

“I joined for the splits and the leads, but I’ve stayed for the people and the vision,” he concludes. “We’re not just brokers working in isolation; we’re part of a team that’s genuinely trying to fix the homebuying process. And that’s an incredibly exciting thing to be a part of.”

Green light for 165 new homes in Chichester

0

Plans for 165 new homes on land off Madgwick Lane in Chichester have been approved by Chichester District Council’s Planning Committee, paving the way for Persimmon Homes South Coast to start work later this year.

Located near the South Downs National Park and Goodwood Estate, the scheme will deliver 115 open-market homes and 50 affordable properties for low-cost ownership, together with landscaped green space, play areas and a series of ecological enhancements designed to boost biodiversity.

The application was shaped through close engagement with council officers to ensure the design responded sensitively to its surroundings and addressed key technical issues.

Acoustic mitigation and building design measures were introduced to manage the site’s relationship with Goodwood Estate and avoid overheating. The design team worked with specialist consultants to model aircraft and circuit noise, design the layout to respond to noise sensitive areas, alongside introducing enhanced glazing and ventilation to ensure homes maintain comfortable internal conditions year-round.

A comprehensive drainage strategy responds to the site’s setting alongside the River Lavant, combining sustainable drainage features with targeted ecological enhancements to manage runoff and reinforce the river corridor’s natural value.

National planning and development consultancy Lichfields advised Persimmon Homes on planning, working as part of a multi-disciplinary consultant team. Lichfields worked extensively with the council, Persimmon and technical consultees, and supported negotiations on affordable housing tenure.

Darren Dancey, Divisional Operations Director at Persimmon Homes, said: “We’re delighted to have received planning permission for this high-quality development of 165 much-needed new homes in Chichester. Our scheme will deliver energy-efficient homes, wide areas of green space and affordable routes to home ownership for local people, while contributing to improvements on the A27 and other local priorities.”

The development will also deliver almost £2 million in local infrastructure and public service contributions, including £640,000 towards highways upgrades on the A27.

Nick Kirby, Planning Director in Lichfields’ Thames Valley office, said: “This was a sensitive site, requiring several carefully thought-out technical responses to respond to its setting near Goodwood and the River Lavant.

“Through close engagement with the council and specialist consultants, we were able to achieve design quality alongside technical solutions to manage acoustic impacts, flood risk and ecology. The outcome is a well-considered scheme, providing high quality housing in an area where this is much needed.”

Intertech Contracts Announces Internal Appointment of Three New Directors

0

Intertech Contracts UK Ltd has announced the appointment of three long-serving team members as directors– Dean Thomas, Nick Scholey and Wayne Tompkins.

The trio have spent years shaping the company from the inside. Now, as directors, they’ll continue driving Intertech forward while leading in their own areas of expertise.

The move is an exciting new chapter for the Hull-based firm, which delivers specialist decorating and internal fit-out services nationwide across sectors including education, healthcare, commercial and public works.

Dean Thomas joined the company in 2002 as a decorator and quickly became a key member of the team. His previous experience and natural leadership on site led him to complete his QCF Level 3 in Site Management in 2011, opening the door to progress further through the company.

Over the years, Dean has become someone known for his commitment to teamwork and excellent project management skills.

“Being a director surrounded by a great team and the opportunity to take the company on to new heights means everything to me,” said Dean.

Nick Scholey joined the business in 2008. After serving as an RAF firefighter and later spending 15 years with Howdens Joinery, he joined the company as a site QC on nationwide Project SLAM builds – an intense period that helped shape his technical expertise and understanding of large-scale operations.

Since then, Nick has become a guiding voice across estimating, business development and fit-out delivery.

“I see becoming a director as an opportunity not only to grow myself, but also the business and teams within it, essentially feeding the potential to enhance and improve the lives of more than just one person,” said Nick.

Wayne Tompkins began his career with the company in 2008, when it was still known as Prestige Contract Services Ltd. Starting as a purchasing clerk straight from university, he moved into contract management before being promoted to commercial finance manager following the rebrand to Intertech Contracts in 2017.

With 17 years of experience across every part of the business, Wayne now helps to steer Intertech’s continued growth nationwide.

“Becoming a director of a company I’ve been a part of for so long is a true privilege,” said Wayne. “It’s an opportunity for us to take the company to the next level and further develop the team I’ve worked alongside for many years.”

Previous Director Terrence Pallant welcomed the appointments. He said: “I wish the new directors every success as they take the company forward. They will lead with a fresh vision and determination, bringing their wealth of experience, knowledge and a strong commitment to continued growth and client service.”

Dean, Nick and Wayne’s appointments reflect Intertech’s strong belief in helping its people grow and building lasting careers within the company. Together, their new roles bring fresh energy and experience to Intertech’s leadership team as the company takes on new opportunities.

Harry Redknapp confesses he’s “useless at DIY” – new-build secrets, cheeky ‘crack’ fix and jungle tease on Fix Radio

0

Harry Redknapp had the studio in stitches as he stormed into Fix Radio’s chaos-loving breakfast show The Bald Builders, the weekday 6–9am romp where trades talk meets LOLs, for an episode packed with legendary stories, a sneaky “Joke of the Week,” and a very cheeky product pitch to fix a, ahem, national “crack in the market.” The 1h36m special dropped Friday 17 October 2025.

“I can’t change a plug!”  Harry’s DIY confession

“When it comes to the build, I’m useless – I can’t change a plug,” Harry laughed with Brad & Sam. “I let the experts get on with it. It’s like football training,  you wouldn’t have someone who’s never been to a match telling you how to run it.”

Ever the straight-shooter, Harry even joked he’s the one “holding the ladder for Sandra” while the real graft gets done.

New build, zero faff: trust the pros, keep it green

Redknapp revealed he and Sandra bought a cleared plot and handed the reins to their builder Chris, keeping the project slick and sustainable, right products, right methods, no corner-cutting.

“You get a good builder, you trust them, and you keep things moving. Let people who know what they’re doing do it.”

Bald Builders bedlam: a ‘crack’ invention and the biscuit bandit

This episode had it all: Harry’s funniest tales, a sneaky ‘Joke of the Week’ entry, and Fix Radio presenter Alex pitching the ultimate solution to cover builders’ bums,  finally plugging that “crack in the market.” Meanwhile, the team kept the hunt alive for who nicked Liam’s biscuits… and shared one joke too spicy for broadcast.

Football & jungle whispers

On England, Harry was buzzing about a squad “on a different level.” And when asked about a return to I’m A Celebrity… he offered a cheeky grin and nod to a possible return to the jungle.
