Spyrosoft Ltd, founded in 2016, is the behind-the-scenes company, solving business problems for its customers through technology: helping the UK innovators wanting to create new digital products; capacity-building for those who have neither the skills nor inhouse resources available; supporting those companies looking to manage or lower costs.

While some things in business never change, Spyrosoft is seeing increasing demand for its services as the pace of technological change drives growing need for innovation at a faster speed.  Andrew Radcliffe, CEO UK and co-founder, Spyrosoft explains “UK companies have often faced access to skills challenges; companies have always had cost management challenges.  The big challenge today however is the aggressive improvement in technology which is making these problems even more acute.”

One issue that has certainly positively affected their business is what Spyrosoft refers to as “the AI curveball” and the challenge this poses for companies. Radcliffe continues “These technology curveballs are coming at us more frequently. At the same time as the need for technology teams to keep up with the pace of new technology, there’s the business need to create new digital products and services which leverage these new technologies.”

Spyrosoft’s view is that if you’re a company dealing with end consumers, you’ve got two to three years max before your consumer app, for example, will reach end of life without a refresh or regular addition of exciting new features.  If you’re selling to other businesses, you’ve probably got, three maybe five years max and after that the product will reach end of life.

Spyrosoft’s sector specific expertise

Three key sectors for Spyrosoft in the UK include geospatial (including smart cities and regeneration), media and entertainment and financial services (both b2b and b2b2c) and for the most part, the challenges are similar.  Radcliffe says, “Whether you’re in media or finance, you need to control your costs, you need to innovate and, and you need access to great talent for your application support and software development teams.”

Spyrosoft’s impressive roster of clients includes the BBC and ITV while in the geospatial sector it works for companies like Ordnance Survey, GeoPlace, Landmark, NCTech and ParkingEye.  Financial services clients include Redburn Atlantic (part of the Rothschild & Co group), Czarnikow Group and Simplyhealth.

Spyrosoft has a growing specialism in legal and, drawing on the experience of the wider Spyrosoft Group, it also offers its services in automotive, HR tech, Industry 4.0, Robotics and healthcare and life sciences.  Most recently (June 2024) it has also added green tech/renewables and e-mobility experience via the acquisition of a company called Codibly.

Helping scale ups, scale up

As well as working with companies in those vertical sectors described above, Spyrosoft also works with smaller, ambitious companies such as Digital Land Solutions – The Land App – in the UK.

“I like working with scale ups to really help them with the development of their products and evolution of their software engineering practices” says Radcliffe.  “You’ve got to get the product and its new features out there as quickly as possible to capture the audience immediately. Because if you don’t and you miss it by six months or a year, that audience has already been captured by another product or service.”
